Offer description
Hunting the seldom stone sheep in one of the most peaceful and beautiful regions of Canada.
Over the years the area has produced some exceptional rams with a variety of colours of sheep, from light grey to nearly black.
The Rams average from 35 – 37 inches in length and 13 – 14 inches bases. Rams up to 42 ½ inches long with bases up to 15 inches have been harvested out of the area. Usual hunting time are 15 hunting days. There are fixed dates bookable:
1st to 15th of August, 15th to 30st of August and 30st to 15th of September.
The hunting pressure on stone sheeps is extremely low due to the limited access.
The huge hunting area (750.000 acres, 303.750 hectar) has a stabile population of stone sheeps and there are a lot of other hunting gamespecies in the area.
During the hunt you normally live in rustical cabin or tent camps, which lay next to rivers and are not far away from the good hunting spots.
Your trip will begin out of either Burns Lake or Smithers.
If you are planning on driving here, you can drive right to the float dock in burns lake. There is parking available and it is a safe place to leave your vehicle. If you are flying commercial then you will need to book your flights into Smithers (CYYD) via Vancouver. We´ll pick you up at the airport with our charter plain.
The transportation in the hunting area is mostly the traditional way by horse mixed with a combination of backpacking or river boats. Typically we use the horses to get from base camp up into the high basins where we will have a spike camp to hunt out of. Sometimes, once up there we will take off backpacking for a few days to access more country not accessible by horse.
Charter flights to and from the hunting area, licences and species tags for selected hunts are included as well as all meals, skinning, caping, and meat care.
The hunter preservation fund, governmental roaylities and taxes and the hunting license are included as well.
It is possible to take a non hunting accompanion with you. Costs are 300 $ per hunting day.
If you are not possible to bring your own gun, for 550 $ iin total it is possbile to borrow a proffesional gun with ammunition included.
