Hunting with Camino Real Hunting Consultants in Spain is more than just a hunt. Located in southwestern Europe and just to the north of Africa, Spain offers all the comforts expected from any other European country but with the privilege of its warm and beautiful weather typical from the Mediterranean, allowing our guests to enjoy a unique cultural experience beyond any hunting adventure before.

Whether it is your first time in Spain, a hunt for any of the four Ibex or a combination trip for hunting and tourism with your family and friends, we are here to cater to your every need. By joining us, you will have the opportunity to discover a diverse combination of landscapes, vegetation and wildlife from the oak Meadows of Andalucía and Extremadura to the mountainous regions of the north. Despite being a small country, such diversity is what makes each and every hunt so unique.

The general season starts at the beginning of October and it lasts until late February, however, some mountain species, as well as roe deer can be hunted in spring, allowing us to provide different hunting alternatives for the whole year.

Furthermore, Spain’s artistic and cultural heritage is widely spread throughout the country, enabling guests to learn about our traditions and culture regardless of where the hunt takes place.

On the other side of the Pyrenees our global capabilities extend across other 20 European and Asian countries for a variety of specialized species with a strong focus in mountain hunting with numerous opportunities on selected species that only occur in certain regions where we are present.

2). About Us:
Camino Real Hunting Consultants was first established in 2004 by Alvaro Mazon and Juan Antonio García as a result of their passion for hunting and many years of experience in which they have been able to travel the 5 continents. Specialized in mountain hunting both in Spain and other parts of the world, our main principle is that we know in first-hand all the different destinations in which we organize hunts, as well as the outfitter we work with. In 2019, Alvaro Mazon Jr. joins Camino Real Hunting Consultants and takes over the business with full excitement and new ideas, although he has always been involved in the business for the fun of it traveling with clients to some of the best hunting destinations in the world.

Born in Madrid in 1990, Álvaro graduated in Business Administration by CUNEF and since 2013 he has held different job positions connected to the financial sector, the last one in Alantra, a mid-market Spanish investment bank. In 2019, Alvaro decided to step forward and take over the hunting business of Camino Real Hunting Consultants, something he had dreamed about for many years. Grandson and son of hunters, Álvaro has always been involved in the hunting industry, having worked for different hunting companies, and assisting clients since he was very young.

3). General Information:
Located at the crossroads of the Atlantic, the Cantabrian and the Mediterranean, Europe and Africa, Spain’s history and culture are made up of a rich mix and diverse elements. With 505,988 skm, Spain occupies the majority of the Iberian Peninsula sharing borders with France to the northeast, Portugal to the west and Morocco to the south. Its population is around 46.7 million, being the 6th largest European country. Madrid is the capital city with 6.4 million people. Spanish is the official language, however, other regional languages such as Catalan, Gallego and Euskera are also spoken.

Historically, Spain has been predominantly Catholic but experienced and extended period of Muslim occupation from the 8th to the 15th century which has led to an important culture diversity. Spain became a world power in the 16th century through exploration and conquest, and it maintained a vast overseas empire until the early 19th century. Spain’s modern history is marked by the bitterly fought Spanish Civil War from 1936-1939 ensuring 36-year dictatorship of General Francisco Franco. After his death in 1975, Spain made the transition to a democratic state and built a successful economy with King Juan Carlos I as Head of State.

The green landscapes of the north present a marked contrast to the mountainous and arid landscapes of the south. The foods are equally varied and will provide yet another exciting aspect to your experience other than the hunting itself. 4). Traveling Information:
The main entry into Spain will be at our international airport of Madrid (Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas), although, depending of the hunting schedule, hunters may also be requested to fly to Barcelona (Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat). From either airport, domestic flights closer to the hunting area may be taken. However, transfers are usually done by car.

Passports are required to travel to Spain and for certain countries, Visas may also be required. Although our team will assist you during the process, it is always good to double check with you local Embassy well before your hunt.

With regards to your gun import permit, our team will request some details, however, the process is very easy.

5). Accommodation:
At Camino Real Hunting Consultants we pay special attention to the accommodation where our guests will stay, ensuring that after a long hunting day, our friends will be able to relax and enjoy themselves in a comfortable and cosy lodge. Even when the hunt takes place in a remote and mountainous area, we do not waive the pleasure of staying in the best available lodges.

Despite the small geographic extension of our country, each of the 14 different hunting species may be found far away from each other and in completely different areas. This is what makes hunting each of them so special and unique. No matter where the final hunting area will be, our guests will always be accommodated in the best lodges.

Last but not least, we must not forget about the outstanding gastronomic culture, so unique from each of the different hunting regions. Guests will be able to choose from a wide variety of Spanish traditional dishes and wines, always served by accommodating house staff.
