The main occurrence of the Marco Polo Argali is in the Central Asian Pamir Mountains, which are spread across four countries: Tajikistan, Afghanistan, China and Kyrgyzstan.
\nWe know Tajikistan and the Pamir very well, are often there and not only have excellent connections with local professional hunters and hunting organizers, but also offer personal support for every Marco Polo hunter. Our hunters have not only killed the European record Marco Polo ram here, but have also captured some top sheep, with 100% hunting success so far.
\nForeign hunters mostly only know Tajikistan as the home of the famous Marco Polo sheep. However, ibex and wolf hunts are also important for hunting. Since 2015, the Bukhara Markhor from Tajikistan can also be imported into the EU and is therefore gaining further attention among trophy hunters.
\nAll in all, Tajikistan has developed from a "small" hunting country into one of the world's most interesting hotspots for mountain hunters. The hunt for the Marco Polo Argali in particular is carried out so professionally and meticulously that these hunts are among the best and most successful sheep hunts in the world.<\/p>\n
The main occurrence and the best hunting grounds for Marco Polo Argali are in the southeastern part of the Pamirs on the borders with Afghanistan and China. That is exactly where we hunt. Our partner maintains a base camp in this region near Karakul, which has become synonymous with successful Marco Polo hunts, and one near Khorugh. Here, the concentration of Marco Polo sheep has been so high in recent years following the collapse of livestock farming that it is not uncommon to see herds of 300-500 sheep during the rutting season; our hunters have seen almost 1,000 sheep in one morning. There are certainly 4 to 5 times more Argalis living here today than there were 10 years ago.<\/p>\n
The typical habitat of the Marco Polo Argali is the flat high mountain landscape of the Pamir at altitudes of over 3,000 m; the Marco Polo sheep rarely descends any lower. This is why it is considered the only pure high mountain form among the Argali subspecies.
\nIn the valleys and on many mountain sides you can drive an off-road vehicle without any problems, which makes the search for really strong rams much easier. The camps, which are located at about 4,200 m, are very well equipped, with a doctor, cook, mechanic, drivers, camp helpers and hunting guides.
\nWhen top-class rams measuring more than 60 inches are shot, it is truly a sensation, especially as the trend is increasing. This is one of the reasons why, for many mountain hunters, the Marco Polo Argali is not only the most important Argali trophy, but also a sheep trophy of the greatest prestige. If you have a Marco Polo trophy on your wall, you don't have to explain to anyone what it is. Every hunter knows about it, and above all, everyone understands the hunting adventure that you have to go through to capture such a magnificent specimen in the high Pamirs.

In the Marco Polo Aries, Tajikistan has clear advantages over Kyrgyzstan,
\nBecause of the enormous game population and the top trophy quality in the Pamirs, hunters have a good chance of capturing a strong trophy every day.
\nA big advantage is that you can reach remote valleys from the base camp by off-road vehicle and then return to the base camp with all its amenities in the evening. The Marco Polo hunts in Tajikistan are very complex in terms of logistics and also put a great strain on the hunter's fitness due to the long journey, the high altitude and the strenuous hunt. However, the hunter is compensated by the fantastic mountain scenery of the high Pamir and an unforgettable hunt. You are out and about every day with an off-road vehicle, the driver and your personal hunting guide. Drive to the places where you think you will find sheep at certain times of the year and spend a long time scanning the area. When good rams are spotted, they are approached with a spotting scope and shot at up to shooting distance. The best hunting time is October to November, but a spring hunt in February\/March is also possible.<\/p>\n
The itinerary
\nGetting there is very straightforward. We recommend flying with Turkish Airlines via Istanbul to Osh in southern Kyrgyzstan.
\nFrom there, you will be transferred in off-road vehicles directly to Lake Karakul. The journey takes around 5 to 7 hours. On arrival, you can slowly get used to the altitude. We will be happy to obtain the necessary visa for Tajikistan for you.
\nIn order to make the journey as pleasant as possible and to avoid the complex controls and requirements for transporting weapons, we have a variety of weapons on site from western manufacturers (Blaser, Christensen Arms, Remington, etc.) in calibers suitable for high mountain hunting, which are also optimally adapted to hunting at high altitudes and long-distance shots. These weapons are available to you free of charge, and we recommend using them, because we know from experience that weapons that have been zeroed in at sea level often have completely different ballistics at higher altitudes and are ultimately left behind in the camp.

Personal Preparation
\nLike Kyrgyzstan, the high Pamirs are a land of extremes, which is why good equipment and preparation are necessary. Since the hunter hunts at an altitude of 4,000 m, acclimatization is planned. This is because the first signs of altitude sickness (headaches, nausea, sleep disorders, vomiting, dizziness, etc.) can appear at an altitude of over 3,000 m. Most hunters take Diamox tablets as a preventative measure. Every hunter should discuss with his or her family doctor what, in what dose and how often to take as a preventative measure. In the camps, blood pressure is also measured several times a day during the stay in the high mountains, and medical care is also guaranteed in the base camp. Every hunter should prepare himself or herself for such a trip in terms of fitness. The Marco Polo hunt is a strenuous mountain hunt that should not be approached unprepared.<\/p>\n
We have many years of experience (over 20 years) in these hunts and will be happy to personally support you in your preparation. We maintain contacts with several alpine high-altitude centers, whose trained staff can slowly prepare you for hunting at high altitudes. In addition to checking your physical fitness, you can also prepare for the actual conditions on site in special vacuum chambers at these high-altitude centers.
