An interesting package with Moose, Mountain Goat, Caribou, Black bear and Wolf in one of the most peacuful and beautiful regions of British Columbia.
\nThe Omineca Mountain Range hunting area has a large and abundant population of goats spread all over the area. Our billy goats average 9 \u00bd\u201d in length and 5 \u00be\u201d bases with quite a few 10\u201d plus. The area has produced goats scoring over 50 B&C.
\nDue to our remote location the hunting pressure is extremely low and many of these goats have never seen a person. The hunting success is very near 100%.
\nThe goats are hunted in the higher mountains, so you need a lot of endurance and fittnes, which makes that to a very special kind of hunt. All hunts are by way of horses and\/or backpack.
\nThere is a good population of Black bears in the hunting area and it is not uncommon to see black bears with more than 6 feet (1,8 m) hight. A black bear makes a great addition to any hunt, especially later in the fall when they are up in the berry patches to be fit for the winter. The hunt on black bears is very exciting as the animals are not that easy to catch and they appear impressive.
\nThere is an excellent Moose population in our territory. The bulls in this area average from 45 inches \u2013 55 inches with some over 60 inches (150 cm).
\nAlthough we do not have a high density of Caribou in our area there are a few bulls around and the Caribou with the wolf is a perfect addition to this package.
\nThe hunting season is end of summer\/beginning of autumn and normally its no problem to get all the offered species in 12 days.
\nDuring the hunt you normally live in rustical cabin or tent camps, which lay next to rivers and are not far away from the good hunting spots. You\u00b4ll be guided by a professional hunter, who is an expert in this territory.
\nYour trip will begin out of either Burns Lake or Smithers.
\nIf you are planning on driving here, you can drive right to the float dock in burns lake. There is parking available and it is a safe place to leave your vehicle. If you are flying commercial then you will need to book your flights into Smithers (CYYD) via Vancouver. We\u00b4ll pick you up at the airport with our charter plain.
\nThe transportation in the hunting area is mostly the traditional way by horse mixed with a combination of backpacking or river boats. Typically we use the horses to get from base camp up into the high basins where we will have a spike camp to hunt out of. Sometimes, once up there we will take off backpacking for a few days to access more country not accessible by horse.
\nCharter flights to and from the hunting area, licences and species tags for selected hunts are included as well as all meals, skinning, caping, and meat care.
\nThe hunter preservation fund, government roaylities and taxes and the hunting license are included as well.
\nIt is possible to take a non hunting accompanion with you. Costs are 300 $ per hunting day.
