Carpathian chamois (Waldgams) mountain hunt in a spectacular setting in the Transylvanian Alps with a high probability of a gold medal, in a free range area, in the vicinity of the Natural Park Retezat.<\/p>\n
Depending on the arrival time, we may hunt in the same day (if arrival is at latest 1 pm) or the next day. After a strong breakfast we depart on foot (depending on the hunted area) at 05:30 to 06:30 a.m. and shall slowly travel, stalk and look for animals during the entire day until dusk.
\nA snack (dried meat, sausage, bread etc.) will be provided during a lunch break in the hunting area. We will arrive back at the lodge between 6 and 7 pm, enjoy dinner and get ready for the next day.
\nLocal guides are experienced rangers with a good knowledge of the terrain and animals.
\nOur local cook is an experienced lady from the nearby village that will spoil us with tasty local cuisine and home-made desserts.
\nit is advisable that you bring your trekking sticks and your water boots (one of our paths includes travelling through a mountain rivlet to reach cliffs used as sunning spots, otherwise unreachable), good mountain boots and a wind \/ rain breaker should not miss from your backpack. A range finder and good binoculars are an advantage although in this area we should bring you within 150 meter or less for a shot. Being able to shoot fast in the forested area is an advantage, as we may stumble upon feeding chamois that will offer a short window for a shot (5 -15 seconds). A tripod is generally less advantageous for the rocky areas, there a good rifle rest (backpack or a foam rest with little extra weight to carry) are your best choice.
\nMost of the area is covered by cell towers so you should be able to use your mobile phone (depending on your roaming plan) almost everywhere.<\/p>\n
A craft brewery that uses underground mineral waters is located right across from our hunting lodge. Upon request and for an extra-charge, we will gladly get the alcoholic drinks of your choice – local brandy (plum and apple spirits) and wine are also available.<\/p>\n
For those looking to also spend time in the area, we are located in a very history-rich place, with pre-Roman sanctuaries, remains of gold mining from 2,000 years ago and what used to be a spiritual center of pre-Roman conquest Dacia (Sarmizegetusa Regia).
\nFishing is also possible – either for trout in the rivers of our hunting area or in the lake that holds trout, pike, chub and barbel. A nearby wild reserve offers the chance to spot the European bison (wisent). Please contact us in advance for a fishing or touristic package – in case you want to add it to the hunting experience.<\/p>\n
