Schottland – das ist der Inbegriff einer sportlichen und herausfordernden Jagd auf die Gebirgshirsche dieses interessanten Jagdlandes. Kein anderes Land in Europa hat eine so hohe Wilddichte. Man schätzt den derzeitigen Bestand auf über 300.000 Stück.
Wer einmal in den Highlands gejagt hat, den zieht es immer wieder in diese herrliche Landschaft mit dem vielen Rot- und Sikawild zurück. In Schottland jagt man nicht der Trophäe wegen, hier ist Jagd noch Jagd. Man muss pirschen, auf den Wind achten und sich manchmal in niedrigster Gangart dem gewünschten Hirsch nähern. All das, verbunden mit der schottischen Gastfreundschaft und den liebenswerten Stalkern, macht den Wert dieser Jagden aus.
Sonntags darf in Schottland nicht gejagt werden. Deshalb reisen die meisten unserer Gäste an diesem Tag an und beginnen Montagmorgen mit der Jagd. Rothirsche dürfen vom 1. Juli bis 20. Oktober gejagt werden.
Ab Mitte September haben – zumindest die alten Hirsche – komplett verfegt. Die Brunft findet in der ersten Oktoberhälfte statt und es ist ein Naturereignis der besonderen Art, das Röhren der Rothirsche in den Highlands mitzuerleben. Für die Einreise mit Waffen ist eine britische Einfuhrgenehmigung notwendig.
Diese besorgen wir. Dazu benötigen wir lediglich eine Kopie Ihres Europäischen Feuerwaffenpasses.
Der schottische Berghirsch wird nicht sehr stark. Die Highlands sind nicht bewaldet, sondern mit kniehohem Heidekraut bewachsen und dadurch haben Sie freie Sicht auf das herrliche Rundumpanorama. Sie werden erstaunt sein, wie nah Ihr Pirschführer Sie an Wild heranbringt. Die Stalker sind wahre Meister im Pirschen und kennen Rot- und Sikawild von Jugend auf. Es macht Spaß, mit diesen Männern zu jagen.
Alle bei uns schalenwildtauglichen Kaliber sind auch in Schottland bei der Hirschjagd erlaubt. Vermeiden Sie es aber bitte, Ihre schwere Großwildbüchse mitzubringen. Alles, was stärker ist als .30-06 oder 7 x 64, wird schon mit Argwohn angesehen.
Die Schotten selber schießen ihr Rot- und Sikawild mit relativ kleinem Kaliber, zum Beispiel 7 mm Rem., denn Wildbret ist für sie ein wertvolles Wirtschaftsgut.

Scotland is the epitome of a sporting and challenging hunt for the mountain red deer of this fascinating hunting country. No other country in Europe has such a high density of game. The current population is estimated at over 300,000 animals.
Anyone who has ever hunted in the Highlands is always drawn back to this magnificent landscape teeming with red and sika deer. In Scotland, hunting isn't about the trophy; here, hunting is still hunting. You have to stalk, pay attention to the wind, and sometimes approach the desired stag at a snail's pace. All of this, combined with Scottish hospitality and the charming stalkers, is what makes these hunts so special.
Hunting is prohibited in Scotland on Sundays. Therefore, most of our guests arrive on that day and begin hunting on Monday morning. Red deer may be hunted from July 1st to October 20th.
By mid-September, at least the older stags have completely shed their antlers. The rut takes place in the first half of October, and witnessing the bellowing of the red deer in the Highlands is a truly special natural spectacle. A British import permit is required for bringing firearms into the country.
We will obtain these for you. All we need is a copy of your European Firearms Pass.
The Scottish mountain red deer doesn't grow very large. The Highlands aren't forested, but covered with knee-high heather, giving you unobstructed views of the magnificent panorama. You'll be amazed at how close your guide will get to the game. These stalkers are true masters of tracking and have known red and sika deer since they were young. It's a pleasure to hunt with them.
All calibers suitable for hunting big game in our country are also permitted for red deer hunting in Scotland. However, please avoid bringing your heavy big-game rifle. Anything more powerful than .30-06 or 7x64 will be viewed with suspicion.
The Scots themselves shoot their red and sika deer with relatively small calibers, for example 7 mm Rem., because game meat is a valuable commodity for them.
