Die Hirschziegenantilope wurde in den frühen 1970er Jahren auf Molokai eingeführt, als sie Teil der geplanten Safari wurden. Sie flohen aus der Safari und leben nun wild im westlichen Teil der Insel. Ursprünglich aus Indien kommend, genauso wie der Axishirsch, blühen diese Tiere. Erwachsene Männchen bekommen fast ausschließlch schwarzes Fell - das ist auch der Grund warum man sie im Englischen "Black Buck" nennt. Hirschziegenantilopen lieben die Hitze tagsüber, somit kann man sie oft im Freien oder an Wasserlöchern finden.
Jagd mit Pfeil und Bogen ist ebenfalls möglich.
