Kamtschatka wurde 1996 von der UNESCO zum Weltnaturerbe erklärt. Touristen dürfen die Halbinsel erst seit 1990 betreten, davor war sie über 50 Jahre lang russisches Sperrgebiet. Erst mit Ende des kalten Krieges und dem Zusammenbruch des Kommunismus wurde Kamtschatka für die Jäger ein hervorragendes und sehr beliebtes Reiseziel. Kamchatka was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. Tourists have been allowed to enter the peninsula only since 1990, before it was Russian restricted area for more than 50 years. It was not until the end of the Cold War and the collapse of communism that Kamtschatka became an excellent and very popular destination for hunters.
