Die schottischen Highlands sind ein Highlight für den passionierten Rothirschjäger. Hier steht eindeutig das Jagderlebnis und nicht (nur) die Trophäe im Vordergrund. Der Wildbestand ist ausgezeichnet und bei guter Fernsicht kann man mehrere Brunftrudel in Anblick bekommen. Die Jagd wird traditionell als Pirschjagd ausgeübt.
Hochkapitale Trophäenträger sollte man in Schottland allerdings nicht erwarten. Aufgrund des kargen Biotops sind die Hirsche körperlich nicht sehr stark. Die Trophäen liegen zwischen 2kg und 4kg.
